Guide: Reading the simulator

How each channel is calculated

Ads and sponsorships are priced per 1,000 views (CPM): views ÷ 1,000 × rate. Affiliate income is views × the share who click a link × the share of clickers who buy × your average commission. Product sales are views × the share who visit your shop × the share of visitors who buy × your average price.

The same conversion rate is used for affiliate buyers and shop buyers to keep the inputs simple. If you know they differ for you, run the simulator twice with one channel switched on each time.

Where to get real numbers

Your ad platform's reports show your actual revenue per 1,000 views; use that instead of the example rate. For sponsorships, divide a past deal's fee by the views the sponsored content received, then multiply by 1,000. Affiliate dashboards show clicks and conversions separately, which gives you both rates.

Look at how much of the total comes from a single channel. If one source makes up most of your income, a change to that platform's rates or rules affects most of your income at once. The simulator lets you see how much a second channel would need to earn to reduce that risk.
